When is the Backpack Hero event?
Backpack Heroes is a single day event on July 29th, 2023 from 9:30am to 12:30pm. (Registration is Required)
Where will the event be held?
Backpack Heroes will take place on the Bay Life Church Campus (1017 Kingsway Road | Main Pavilion & Worship Center)
Who can register?
Families with school-aged kids living in the East Hillsborough area may register at one of the following locations:
ECHO of Brandon and Riverview: 507 N Parsons Avenue Brandon 33510 or 7807 Capitano Street Riverview 33578. (9am – 1pm)
Hope for Her: 140 Yarbrough Road M-T (9am – 4pm)
Boricuas de Corazon: at 1291 Kingsway Rd, Brandon, FL 33510 #813-502-5021. Tuesday and Thursday (10am to 7pm) – Spanish speaking.
Children’s Board Family Resources Center: at 1271 Kingsway RD, Brandon FL 33510 # 813-640-2776. Only Saturday July 22nd 2023 (9:30am – 11:30am) – Bilingual
Please bring your photo ID, social security cards and proof of address to the ECHO offices between 9am and 1pm. East Hillsborough zip codes include: 33510, 33511, 33527, 33534, 33547, 33568, 33569, 33570, 33572, 33573, 33578, 33579, 33584, 33592, 33594, 33596, 33610, 33619.
Why do I have to sign up?
Signing up will ensure that we have enough materials to give out to give out to students!
Who is heading up Backpack Heroes?
The East Hillsborough Community Group is a collaborative that includes over 40 nonprofit organizations, churches, and agencies in East Hillsborough County. Lead agencies for the Backpack Hero event are Hope for Her and E.C.H.O. of Brandon.

Why are we doing this?
The purpose of Backpack Heroes is to create a much larger positive impact on families in our community by consolidating numerous smaller back-to-school events in the East Hillsborough area. This event is geared to provide school-age children with backpacks in time for school and educate parents on the resources available to them in the East Hillsborough community. Through Backpack Heroes families learn about tools and resources available to them in the community to assist them in their mission to provide and succeed.
